How do planetary transits work?

Transits represent the current position of planets in the tropical sky relative to your moment of birth. When a transiting planet forms a precise aspect with a point in your natal chart, it activates that life area for days or weeks. Mercury and Venus act quickly, while Saturn and the slow planets mark longer phases of growth and change.

What is a retrograde planet?

A retrograde planet appears to move backward as seen from Earth due to orbital perspective. Astrologically it signals a phase of review, reconsideration and return to previously addressed themes. Mercury retrograde, the most famous, lasts about three weeks and invites you to slow down with communication, contracts and travel, without halting them completely.

Should I check transits every day?

A daily reading helps you catch the energetic climate of the moment, especially for the Moon and fast planets that change sign within hours. For slow planets like Saturn or Pluto a weekly or monthly check is enough, because the transit can last many months. The page refreshes automatically with current ephemerides for accurate timing.

Is the transit service really free?

Yes, consulting planetary transits on stars.expert is completely free and requires no mandatory registration. Planetary positions are calculated from professional astronomical ephemerides in real time. If you want to read transits on your personal natal chart you can activate a profile, but general sky positions always remain accessible to everyone at no cost.

How do I interpret a transit on my natal chart?

Identify the transiting planet and the natal point involved, then evaluate the aspect formed: conjunction merges energies, opposition creates tension, trine favors flow, square challenges growth. Consider the activated house to understand the life area affected. Our aspect guide integrates this reading with practical examples from the Anglo-American astrological tradition for clarity.

What is Mercury retrograde?

Mercury retrograde is the apparent phenomenon by which Mercury seems to move backward about three times a year for roughly three weeks. It influences communication, technology, contracts and travel, suggesting that you review documents and listen more carefully. It is not a prohibition on action but an invitation to reflect thoughtfully on important decisions before signing them.

Complete Guide to Planetary Transits

Transits are the continuous movements of planets in the sky and how they interact with your birth chart. Understanding transits allows you to anticipate cosmic energies and better navigate moments of change.

Planetary Speeds

The planets move at different speeds: the Moon changes sign every 2-3 days, the Sun every month, Mercury and Venus every 3-4 weeks, Mars every 6-7 weeks. The outer planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto) remain in a sign for years, causing deep transformations.

Planetary Retrograde

When a planet is retrograde, it appears to move backwards from Earth. Mercury retrograde is famous for communication problems, Venus retrograde for love issues, Mars retrograde for blocks in action. These periods invite reflection and revision.

How to Use Transits

The most important transits are those that form aspects with your natal planets. A Jupiter transit brings expansion, Saturn brings lessons and structure, Uranus sudden changes, Neptune inspiration or confusion, Pluto deep transformation.
